2021 Pombal do Vesuvio Douro

2021 Pombal do Vesuvio

The second wine in the Quinta do Vesuvio table wine trio. Composed primarily of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, with a bit of Tinta Amarela and Alicante Bouchet. The nose is packed full of red stone fruits, tea leaves and resin. Dark cherries are interspersed with floral notes and soft well-rounded tannins and acidity. A step up in depth compared to the Comboio do Vesuvio. This too has a chalky finish, along with dark cherries. I’ve had various vintages of this and they do quite well for short term aging...improving as time passes. 90+ Points
