Initially the 1984 Quinta Do Noval Nacional had a bit of a metallic smell that eventually dissipated showing a nose of lavender and fruit. In the glass it was thick, cloudy, and dark burgundy in color. The primary tastes were of raisins followed by fig, cherry syrup, and apricot with a bit of peach on the finish. The '84 Nacional was very smooth, complex tasting and quite youthful, much better than expected!
