Color was a bit hard, but looked like a medium ruby. The nose had some slight volative acidity on it. The palate also had some V.A. on it but still had good raspeberries and structure. A shame as this would have been a good bottle had it not been ruined by V.A.

I don't know about it being a classic, but more likely a slightly lesser bottle. It was hard to gauge due to the VA, but I did like the underlying fruit. But I would have to guess by the raspeberry notes that this is more of a mid-term ager. IIRC, this vintage has a VA issue across the board so I don't know when, if ever, I'll see a non-tainted bottle of this to make an acurate review.

I bought a case of this wine about 7-8 years ago for $26/bottle. There were no flawed bottles. They were probably the best 1985s that I have had. I think that they are well worth trying for a reasonable price.

In that case I'll have to find another bottle to try as I was really bummed about the massive VA on it. But IIRC, their winemaker mentioned this has a history of VA issues across the board, so glad yours showed so well.

Thank's for the answers Andy and Gary. They've been useful for me.
I found some bottles but not at that price (49$). I've to search better.
