2003 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port

Post by Luc Gauthier »

Opened this week end .
Ruby in colour .
Medium body .
The nose : violets
The fruit : grapes ( my 7 yr old daughter said cranberries )
Seems to be balanced .
Mouthfeel not overpowering , just enough to feel Its presence .
Very good price / quality ratio . 16 / 20
Vintage avant jeunesse/or the other way around . . .

Did you get to try it on the 2nd day, Luc?

Just a ruby color? I typically find the Smith Woodhouse VPs to exhibit extraction of color that is deeper than almost any other producer. I am not sure if it is because of the treading at Madalena or what.

BTW, how long did you decant this one?
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Unfortunately no .
Haven't tasted enough producers to be able to discern the differences in colour .
Only decanted 3 hours .
Vintage avant jeunesse/or the other way around . . .
