1966 Barros Vintage Port

Chosen as it had started to show signs of seepage. Decanted 5 hours when I first started to dive into it. It was still a respectable dark redish brown but lighter in color than other 66's from top houses. A lighter bodied Port with fully resolved tannins and good acidity still supporting delicate notes of chocolate, cedar planks, and mocha. Slightly clipped on the finish yet still vibrant enough to enjoy. While not a powerhouse, and past its prime, it was a "no brainer" that drank decent on its own. If this bottle is representative, then it's time to start drinking these up if you own them. 87 points. 03/22/09

That is one of the issues with a leaker. Unless you have had others to compare it too, it is virtually impossible to draw conclusions. You just don't know if that bottle is representative of what the VP should be like. 87 points considering it was a leaker and from that house and with some age to it ... it not bad!

I don't have many leakers...matter of fact I think this was the only one. But it showed better than I thought it would based soley on prior aged Barro's VP's I've had. Love their colheita's, but have been generally disappointed with their older VP's. Their newer stuff is definitely improving and this is a house I've been watching closely in this regard. I think they have the potential to make great VP's as well as their famous Colheita's.
