Richly fruited. Nice density and quite approachable. Dark ripe plums, spice and violets. Good structure for further evolution. (90)

Re: 2002 Vallegre, Late Bottled Vintage, Vista Alegre
It is nice when you find an LBV like this which shows so nicely, especially from what's considered a mediocre year at best. It is my daughter's birth year and it is so tough to find anything worthy to put in the cellar for her from 2002. I wind up buying big bottles of Quilceda Creek, Latour, Geyserville and Insignia instead of Port. Waiting for Vargellas to hit the market some day ... maybe 3 more years.

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

How about some German Rieslings? Those will certainly age.Roy Hersh wrote:It is my daughter's birth year and it is so tough to find anything worthy to put in the cellar for her from 2002.
Agreed... The only reason I even had a bottle was because it was given as a gift when we visited the estate on your 2007 Harvest Tour.Roy Hersh wrote:Vista Alegre needs to find a way into the USA!
