LAST BOTTLES OF THE WONDERFUL DALVA GOLDEN WHITE 1952

Post by goncalo devesas »

Hello Port Lovers,

As you all know the amazing Golden White 1952 Dalva Colheita is arriving to the end (unfortunately) less than 300 bottles remaining, so once that I personnaly take care of shipments for Glenn E. and some other requests, if any of you :ftlop: members want to purchase one or more of this unique Port wine (in my opinion better than the Krohn 1964), just let me know and in one week you will have the bottles delivered to your home.

The shipping of 1 to 6 bottles will be 47€; 7-12 bottles 52€ and if for England or France 1-6 bottles 20€; 7-12 bottles 30€.

NOTE: Shipping for United States unfortunately it´s impossible.

Now I only have the bottles that are bottled by request, so in this case the bottling date of 2009.

I saw that some of you talked about prices, but as we all know buying the Dalva Golden White 1952 bottled for ex. in 2003 it´s not the same price as Dalva selling it now, and of course the flavour will not be with the same complexity. The Euro has as much to do with this as does the scarcity nowadays.

Best regards from Porto,

This is probably the last chance to get this legendary Port that I was lucky to try on several occasions this trip. Although shipping is not possible to the US directly from Portugal, I'm sure people could figure out a friend in another country to help out in receiving the wine for later pick up or forwarding.

Thanks Andy,

I hope that you are now in one piece after 26 hours in a plane...

Once that Golden White 1952 is arriving to the end and it´s better than the next Golden White 1963 ( Andy tasted the 1963 cask sample with myself, Roy and David and it was unanimous ) it will be nice that the last one´s be relished by truly LOVERS.

Cheers,

Goncalo,

I am curious - are the bottles I bought from the 2003 bottling or the 2009 bottling? It would be fun to try both side-by-side some time.

Hi Glenn :salute: ,

the bottles that I sent to you, are the last being bottled (2009 bottling # 1month in bottle) I tried to get you the best stuff.

I have checked my stock and own bottles from 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009. The 2009 bottles are very solid. I was not as big a fan of the 2008s.

I would urge those of you looking to purchase these before they disappear to RUN and don't walk to get what's left. Once gone, there will be a very small bottling of 375 ml bottles that will cost the same as what the 750s are going for now. Thereafter, the 1963 will take over and although good, it is not in the same league. Figure out a way to buy these. Even if you are not going to head over to Portugal to 2010, buy NOW and have Goncalo hold them for you until you can pick them up and hand carry them home. If you are in Europe or anywhere but the USA ... you are in luck. I don't think they can ship to Canada either. No. America is still a backwater continent when it comes to wine shipments. [dash1.gif]

I tried the 1952 with six notes during the past two weeks and I must say that my scores varied between 95 and 96 points each and every time. Typically they've ranged between 94-95 in past year's bottlings, so the depth of concentration at the end of the cuvee is really great.

This is one of the best Ports ever, regardless of style. Wow, can only imagine what the 2009 bottling dates must taste like!

Moses,

One of these days, you'll have to join us in Portugal for a Harvest or Fortification Tour and find out for yourself.

Since you all think so high of this wine I recently bought 3 bottles @EUR 115 inc. tax p.b.. Since it's a 2008 bottling i wonder what you have to say about it? Anyone out there having tasted this in the 2008 or 2007 bottling variation? Might this be comparable with the last (2009 bottling)?

Thanks

They all have been pretty consistent, so have no worries. But if you don't like it, please mail your remaining bottles to me [cheers.gif]

To think we made a reduction out of a bottle instead of drinking it... [dash1.gif]

Ya know, we do actually know a guy who flies fighter bombers, there might be penalties for such desecration... :Naughty:

Hi Andreas,

we used to sell the Dalva Golden White 1952 for 120€, but now if you try to get one of the end of the cuvee, I´m shure that you´ll pay more, once that Dalva is closing the tap, I they already started in the past week with the bottling of the Golden Whites from 1952 and 1963 in 50cl bottles...

So I think that despite the improvement in cask it´s also nice to have the last 75cl bottles and the price will be the same.

According to Dalva´s Management the 75cl bottling of this amazing Portwine will end in the next few days...

So... get it while they´re hot !
