Post by Roy Hersh »

I noticed this morning that Sarah Ahmed has joined us here at FTLOP. Sarah is a brilliant wine writer whose well-known and respected for her no-nosense but fun style of writing. One of her specialties is Portuguese wine. and she was recently selected as Portuguese Wine Awards, Wine Writer of the Year 2009. Her prize is to select and write about her Top 50 Portuguese Wines. Here website, as she is known as: The Wine Detective - http://www.thewinedetective.co.uk/about/

Please join me in welcoming Sarah to FTLOP and here's hoping she will renew the interest and help us to explore the other regions of Portugal beyond the Douro.

I'm just back from my last of several trips to Portugal this year on my mission to identify 50 Great Portuguese Wines for an annual press and trade tasting next year
You could have saved yourself the trip and just asked us, but what fun would that have been
Indeed, arguably, maybe we're just more discerning
You're probably right, I've seen what some of the men here will drink when desperate [foilhat.gif]
Christian Seeley opened a divine bottle of Quinta do Noval Colheita 1964 when I visited in the week
this is a wonderful Colheita that I've been lucky enough to have had on many occasions, coincidently the last time was also with Christian at the Quinta this past June.
