TN: Niepoort Sempar 2007

Before this wine was introduced to Quebec's market, we used to have the Dialogo version for vintage 2005 and 2006. Thanks to SAQ regulation who wanted the label to be translated(stupidity) we got this clean label having a finger print on it and a new brand.... for the same wine.

While I was really liking the 2005 and 2006 version, I was not convince with the 2007. For me this wine is all about fresh fruit foward wine displaying intense but simple Douro fruit expression. In 2007, while it is still good, it delivers a Rioja like character with spices and garden herbs flavours at the forefront leaving some black current in the background. The palate delivers finely grained tannins, nothing big, with 13% alcool this wine is still balance and food friendly, similar flavours to the nose, short finish. 14.5/20 Not as good QPR as it used as it was in the previous vintage.
