2003 Niepoort Vintage Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

I sipped this while reading Oporto, Old, and New (1899) so I took no formal notes. A book I might add is well worth reading for its historical information. Here are my very brief impressions after enjoying this little gem over a few days.

Such a dense and chewy Port full of fruit and mouth puckering tannins. This gained more stature by the second day as the finish lengthened and more tannins came forward. This is a spectacular VP and I'll have to seek out more of it. As this stage it's hard not to drink all the ones I've got, yet I know my patience will be rewarded many years down the road if I don't. 95+ Points

That wasn't your first time with the 2003, was it?

I know that is impossible. 8--) What a stupendous 2003 and it is not that hard to find, even here in the USA.

No I've had this several times in the past and am typically in the 96-97 point range for it. But like I mentioned, I didn't take formal notes and simply enjoyed this for what it was...a great bottle. Plus I knew you'd bust my chops if I didn't put a score on it [cheers.gif]
