1985 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by Lamont Huxley »

Vibrant purple/burgundy color - dark, though a good deal lighter than the inky tone I remember from the last time I drank this port ten years ago. The nose is lovely and very expressive with ripe, flowery, almost candied plum, raspberry and strawberry fruit. Absolutely delicious on the palate showing ripe, sumptuous raspberry, strawberry and vanilla with hints of bubblegum. Smooth and silky texture, seamless structure, and laced with a subtle touch of spice, this port also delivers a very long and flawlessly balanced finish. Awesome. 97pts, Tasted 4/09

Indeed, this is a fantastic VP. I've had it twice and been blown away both times. Now I just need to get a couple for the cellar...

This is the kind of Port you save up and buy a case of, even if it takes a year. You'll drink these the rest of your life.
