Slight bricking but still a very dark ruby. Secondary characteristics of baked cherries and dried fruit with a candied orange peel. A touch of heat on the palate is tempered by some vanilla (a friend characterized as vanilla custard), sweet cherries, dried flowers, and a pretty violet characteristic that preclude a moderate and mellow finish. I'd say this was at peak, but will hold here for at least another 7-9 years. Served double blind to a ITB friend, his original guess was a mid 1980's Port. A Port that is rarely talked about yet provides a nice experience.
