Great haul, Glenn! And yes, the prices were fantastic, solely based on Don's having purchased these puppies many decades ago, when there were a lot less people drinking Ports in the USA and the fact that he really wanted to move these once. 100% sold. His storage is impeccable, and outside of the fact that he had a direct connection with Whitwham's as a supplier, the rest of the story is all good for both buyers and seller. Trust me, he didn't need the money. But he wanted to alleviate some future stress on his wife, which was great for his family. Glad that FTLOPers, on both coasts and in the middle of the country were able to win so much of what was sold.I got one of the cases of Vesuvio, and David got another one, so at least 2 of the 3 went to FTLOPers!
I also got the 1935 Graham (Whitwham's bottling, not the magnum), and David and I split the case of 2011 Graham's The Stone Terraces.
There were some truly amazing prices in that auction. If I had storage space, I'd have picked up all of the 1970 Graham because it went for around $600 per case. $50 per bottle is crazy for a top-tier 1970 VP!

I grabbed a lot of both 70 and 77 Graham. Got beat out on 1994 Vesuvio and two different lots of 1970 Fonseca...hope they went to happy FTLOPers.![]()

2 x 1937 Barros Colheitas won at auction. I'm unclear as to what year they were bottled, but based on the label style I would say it was most likely between 2000 and 2010. From the pics, the bottles look to be in excellent condition.
Edit: I picked up the bottles today (5/20/26) and they were bottled in 2008, so 71 years in cask.

Deze week gekocht

Messias 1963
dit was een fles van een oude dame, geen etiket aanwezig: Weet dus erg weinig van de fles.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Those are two nice acquisitions, Melis. Kopke Colheitas are routinely good to excellent. I am unsure if the Messias is a Vintage Port or a Colheita. The Colheitas that I've seen from Messias typically have stenciling on the front of the bottle that says "envelhecido em casco" or aged in casks. But I'm unsure if all Colheitas from Messias said that. Regardless, 1963 was an excellent year, so whether it's a Vintage Port or a Colheita, I'm sure it will be nice. Enjoy it and congratulations.

Was in Northeast Pennsylvania for my Mother's Birthday. There's a "State Store" near the restaurant so we ventured in. They had a single bottle of 2006 Warre Quinta da Cavadinha Vintage Port on sale for $35 so I snagged it.
Any Port in a storm!

I can't drink right now for health reasons, but that doesn't mean I can't buy!
2018 Ramos Pinto LBV
Burmester Ruby (best regular ruby I've ever had so want to have another go with it)
2011 Kopke VP ($50 retail)
Btw Oporto wines in Newark has really upped their stock from last I was there. They had a load of nice looking '87 Ferreiras for $89 iirc and a bunch of other stuff. I picked up a 1994 Dow LBV for $30 there, and they had the 92 Dow LBV as well.

Nice pick ups, Lucas. I'm a big fan of Ramos Pinto and their LBV's always show nice. The 2011 Kopke is supposed to be very good. I love the '94 & '92 Dow LBV and have picked up several over the years from Oporto Wines. I believe the Dow are filtered, but they've held up nicely. My favorite LBV pick up from Oporto Wine was the Andresen '95 (they also had '92 which was pretty good), but I think I bought the last one a couple of years ago.Lucas S wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:57 pm I can't drink right now for health reasons, but that doesn't mean I can't buy!

I’ve caved and I’ve bought 12 halves of Fonseca 2024 to drink over the next 2-3 years.

I know about your love of the 95 Andresen LBV, and I now share it since that Old LBVs tasting. So today I had an appt in Jersey and on the way back I decided to stop again at Oporto to get the 92 Dow LBV. While I was digging through the 1994 Dow LBVs trying to find one, I FOUND A SOLE 95 ANDRESEN IN THE BACK! Am pretty over the moon about it, ngl.Mike J. Also at the Seabra on Wilson found a rather obscure 1996 Quinta do Castelinho VP half, for $19.99. They have another four or five bottles left of it. It doesn't appear to have much opacity left though, but I like these kind of "barn finds."

Great score on the Andresen. I thought I had cleaned them out the last time I was there about 2 years ago. Bummed that I missed that one, but I'm glad you were able to find it. I only have one left.Lucas S wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 3:37 pmI know about your love of the 95 Andresen LBV, and I now share it since that Old LBVs tasting. You can't beat the price on that Castelinho. It's not a well known Producer and their scores for their Ports are all over the map on CellarTracker, but hopefully it's a good find. Let me know how it shows when you open it.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
I have it in my mind to ask the owners next time where the hell does Oporto get these old LBVs from in the first place. Is it just very old stock, do they get them at auction, or from Portugal? It seems like the only store that carries LBVs 30+ years old stateside and that are also really cheap, with very little premium over a "new issue" LBV.
Of course, I would never hint that they are pricing their 1994 Dow's LBV too cheaply.
