2009 Smith Woodhouse LBV Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

2009 Smith Woodhouse LBV. Young and tannic fruit. Very good acidity up front and throughout the palate. Dark berries and chocolate dominate Long complex finish. 91 points.

Just got a case of this. Wasn’t expecting it to be this good. Will probably put 6-8 bottles into my offsite for longer aging…and will probably need to buy a replacement as this was going to be my summer house Port.

I just picked up a bottle of this about 2 weeks ago, but I haven't opened it yet. When do you think it might be ready?

Maybe 10 yrs. It’s really good and rather young still. But does drink well now too. If only one bottle I’d probably say wait a bit longer. Or try and pick up a few more to age.
