Some of us are too analytical, I always worked off 2/3rd retail so I only pick up the scraps Tom misses :) It could just be the champagne glass stack of excess global cash sloshing around or perhaps just the good weather.

That is a substantial number of bottles to gain a year in 7.5 hours! Put another way to drink them all in a year you would need to drink a bottle every 7.5 hours (sounds like the rate Pitt used to drink his port but perhaps it had a lower alochol content back then). For me its more like 120 hours (5...

Just to say thanks for posting tasting notes

I have been pondering buying my younger brother some VP for his 30'th. Being a child of the seventies myself I do not have a large collection from then (sadly). Anyhow I did a few searches and read some of Roy's notes and felt totally grateful for all the considered tasting notes. All the notes real...

Thanks for the description Richard you've confirmed to me that I should extend mine port collection back in time. I have some of the newer Fonsecas but no desire to really get them out of storage now. Looks like I will be buying some port next year...what joy!!!

My first thought was Raymond Reynolds (Niepoort agent in UK) may be able to point you toward someone. Next shot (not checked for how competitive the price is) but philglas-swiggot have it on their web site.

we keep the kids wooden railway in them...goes wonderfully with the furniture and oak floor. But I tend to agree...there is only so much track you need to store and I'd be happy to choose. I see Berry's are offering us the chance to buy more!

I just click on sale departments (from the tab) wine and then international wine calendar (on the right hand side) and then europe (at the top).

Definately agree more communication. If you hide your wine guess what people will not buy it, wake up the communication chanels are changing and if you cannot find your wine on google or wine-searcher nor can we!

I contacted Adnams and they said they would be offering vesuvio but no indication of price. At those levels I'd rather ehad to the auctions and pick up 2000/2003's to plug some gaps.

Generally I drink hardly any VP or LBV but I do keep some tawnies (often from SA) in the fridge. They can be equally refreshing and pleasurable on a hot day.

Decanted for about 4 hours, possibly too short but I am an impatient type and get a thrill out of seeing the wine evolve. Very smooth and integrated. Alcohol doesn't dominate as much as say the 1994. Great length, sweet and lots of fruit. Almost has the wow factor (my wife's response was a resolute ...

Has anyone tried Vesuvio from 1997 lately?

Just pondering which will be my last bottle of VP to drink before summer forces me to the fridge (I have some fun and pretty good QPR SA Tawny style wines waiting :D ). I have some older Niepoort from the 19080's and some vesuvios from the 1990's this being one I have never tried.
