As a "warm up" for our tour of Madeira in 3 weeks, I will head to NYC tomorrow, for an annual Madeira event which I co-host. This year's theme is "Pre-Phylloxera Sercial." Our guests will be subjected to 20 of the greatest bottles of Sercial remaining on earth, averaging over 170 years each. Madeira ... ya gotta love it!
Visiting the vineyards at Quinta do Vallado during the 2015 harvest. Things looked and tasted so good, it seemed like this would be a great year for the next general declaration of Port. We shall see, but I believe that will be the case. Thanks to Francisco Spratley Ferreira for providing us with one extraordinary day all around!

Sogevinus pulled out all the stops. This was a spectacular tasting of Colheitas and a pair of 40 year old Tawny Ports, one of which was White.

This was a wonderful wine that I tried both in 2014 and 2015 and for a 20 and 21 year old Douro red wine ... provides all the evidence that some Douro wines can age nearly as easily as Port!1994 Ramos Pinto, Duas Quintas Reserva Vinho Tinto
