The majority of Ports produced are not designed for long-term storage. Most are made to be consumed within a few years of bottling. However, there are some Ports that can be cellared for the long term as they are meant to age in the bottle.

The categories which improve in bottle are: Vintage Port, Single Quinta Vintage Ports, Unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage Ports, Crusted Ports and some Colheitas. However, nothing says you can’t enjoy these young, if that is what you prefer. Remember, we all have different likes and dislikes, so it’s important that you consume them at the age that most appeals to you.
