The IVDP's Solar do Vinho do Porto, in Lisboa. I remember first visiting the one in Port back in 1994 and several times after that too. I was shocked when it closed down towards the end of the past decade. We had 40 year old Romaneira Tawny Port, followed by a bottle of 1976 Krohn Colheita. Great times, but that place is so run down, it almost felt anachronistic, with paint peeling off the walls etc.
BLACKETT PORTSThree times within the past week, from 2 separate groups of bottles, I tasted through all three of these Tawny Ports (in USA & Portugal).

Quinta da Lapa's "Nana" Reserva, a great red wine from the Tejo Region.
It was my distinct pleasure to finally get to meet Julia Kemper at her winery, Quinta do Cruzeiro within PT's Dão region. Julia's wines epitomize the quality that can be achieved through the use of organic farming. Her entire lineup of whtes and reds went from strength to strength and our group loved this visit; which is no surprise once one gets to know this dynamic and passionate winemaker.

A fine assortment of lesser known Vintage Ports.
An overcast afternoon visit to Quinta do Monte d'Oiro and winemaker Graça Gonçalves, who embraces the grapes from the Rhone region. Graça is producing some of the finest examples of Syrah in the entire Lisboa region, if not the country.
