Full-bodied and juicy in its palate presence, with lively acidity and ripe, chalky tannins that provide the symmetry. Sweet plum and boysenberry flavors are simple and delicious. This Single Quinta Vintage Port from one of Dow’s key properties. offers mid-term cellaring potential. The tasty Senhora da Ribeira fruit delivers a spicy, primary and spirit-laden finish. Give it some time! 91-93+ points 6/1/12
2010 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port – cask sample. Purple opacity from center to rim. Lavender dominates the bouquet along with blackcurrants and kalamata. The Vesuvio shows even greater intensity and extraordinary focus when compared side-by-side to the Senhora da Ribeira. Gorgeous waves of blueberry and black plum flavors dominate the voluptuous round tannins in the mid-palate, yet the balance is impeccable. The tannins re-emerge late in the game and are powerful, without any signs of astringency. This sumptuous youngster delivers a remarkably long finish and promises a fine cellar-worthy future, yet it’s certainly fun to drink now. 93-95 points 6/1/12
