For those of you have been to Porto and visited Vinologia with us or on your own, brothers Devesas Gustavo and Gonçalo each worked there helping run the shop for a number of years, along with the owner, Jean-Phillipe Duhard. Both brothers provided extraordinary customer service and honed their knowledge of Port during the years they worked there, introducing many tourists and locals to the wine that made the city of Porto famous around the world.

In 2010 older brother Gonçalo made a career move and is the General Manager of the outstanding Port bar, C. da Silva which is located across the street from the riverfront in Vila Nova de Gaia.

After working at Vinologia from 2000 to late-2007, younger sibling, Gustavo Devesas caught a break and began to work for the Symington Family Estates at their Gaia-based Graham’s Port Lodge in mid-May 2008. After initially learning about the Symington’s stable of Douro quintas and their Port wine, Gustavo began as a tour guide in the Lodge and also worked in Graham’s tasting room. He took on more responsibility as a Port wine educator and developed and managed Graham’s shipping service program.

As of January 3rd 2011, the Symington’s promoted Gustavo to the position of Market Manager. He will now be traveling throughout Europe, responsible for: France, Scandinavia, the Balkans, Central Europe and the Baltic States; about 20 countries in all.

FOR THE LOVE OF PORT would like to congratulate Gustavo on his promotion and wishes him well in continuing to promote and sell Port wherever his travels take him in the future!
